Large Garden Transformation in Amersham, Buckinghamshire
This large garden in Amersham, Buckinghamshire had good bones but little colour, with tired flowerbeds shaded by mature trees. Over a series of phases we reworked the planting across the whole space, from shady borders to a sunny patio, finishing with a Japanese-inspired garden and a central water feature. The result is a garden with year-round colour and seasonal interest the client can enjoy in every month.

The problem we fixed
The garden lacked colour and seasonal interest. The existing flowerbeds were overgrown and untidy, and the mature trees around them left large areas in shade, so the space felt flat and green for most of the year.

We began this Amersham garden transformation last year, working in phases so each area could be planted for its conditions and season. We started with a shady border, then moved to the sunny patio and the shaded section beside the house, choosing plants suited to each aspect. The final phase, completed in June, added a Japanese-inspired garden with a central water feature as a calm focal point. Phasing the work this way let the planting establish gradually and kept disruption to the client to a minimum. The garden now has structure, movement and colour in every season, and the space feels alive again rather than flat and green.
