About our Garden Design Team
Vivid Gardens grew from a family passion for plants that began over 30 years ago. Founder Erika Meh took that lifelong love and shaped it into a dedicated garden design and landscaping business based near Beaconsfield, creating beautiful, practical green spaces for people to enjoy. Today, Vivid Gardens works across Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, and throughout London, with Erika established as a South Buckinghamshire and Chilterns garden designer known for thoughtful planting, creative design, and genuine care in every project.
Erika has more than 20 years of hands-on gardening and design experience, a journey that started in her childhood in Hungary. Weekend trips to vibrant flower markets, filled with colour and fragrance, sparked her fascination with plants and design. After moving to the UK, she fell in love with the country’s rolling landscapes and natural charm and has spent the years since developing deep practical knowledge of local soils, microclimates and plants that thrive here. She now pours that inspiration into her work, sketching thoughtful plans and transforming them into living, breathing spaces. Her aim is simple: to make every garden feel more uplifting, more inviting, and more colourful all year round.
What we do
We design gardens of all kinds, from private gardens and rooftop terraces to indoor planting for offices and commercial spaces. Every project starts with a clear plan. We use professional design software, Vectorworks, to draw up planting schemes and layouts that show you exactly how your space will look before any work begins.
Living walls are one of our favourite solutions. They suit smaller city and countryside spaces beautifully, adding greenery without taking up floor space, and they earn their keep too, encouraging wildlife, helping manage rainwater and making buildings more comfortable to be in.
We design with the British weather and local conditions in mind, choosing resilient, wildlife-friendly planting built around native and climate-suited species that stand up to wind, rain and sun. Our particular strength is difficult ground, from chalky Chiltern soil to heavy Thames clay, so your garden stays lush and largely looks after itself, without constant fuss.
Erika Meh, Founder and Lead Designer
Erika's fascination with plants began in childhood in Hungary, on weekend trips to Budapest's flower markets, full of colour and fragrance. That early spark became a career. She holds a Master's degree in Ornamental Horticulture from Corvinus University in Budapest, and has more than 20 years of hands-on gardening and design experience.
After moving to the UK, she fell for the British countryside and set about learning it properly, the local soils, the microclimates and the plants that genuinely thrive here, from the chalky ground of the Chilterns to the heavy clay along the Thames. Erika designs the way she first came to love gardens, plant by plant, sketching schemes by hand before shaping them into living spaces. Her aim is simple. Every garden should feel more uplifting, more inviting and more colourful, right through the year.
Steve Andrews, Senior Designer
Steve is a pre-registered member of the Society of Garden Designers, with over 10 years of horticultural and design experience across gardens of every scale, from intimate urban courtyards to large country estates. He's meticulous about the groundwork, studying a site's soil and the way light moves across it through the seasons before a single plant is chosen.
Like Erika, Steve starts with the planting rather than dropping a fixed scheme onto a garden. He matches every plant to the conditions it will actually live in, and works closely with trusted local nurseries so that what he specifies goes on to thrive. His planting leans on sustainable, wildlife-friendly choices that support local biodiversity and mature gracefully, gardens that look right the day they're finished and keep getting better.
